2021 Community Heritage Day Activities
12 pm - You will never have as much fun anywhere than at our old fashioned field games! Join in and catch the greased pig, toss eggs, do the 3 legged race, or hop your way across the finishline in your potato sack! Then see who can eat their slice of watermelon fastest without using their hands-- or maybe you would enjoy the pie eating contest even more! Laughter and mayhem abound! FUN for ALL ages. Sponsored by the Emmitsburg LIONS Club. Located at the Elementary School Field
BBQ Chicken Dinner and snacks at the Pavilion-Lions Club
12am - Close The Lions Club brings you their famous BBQ Chicken dinners at $10.00. Includes beverage and sides. Also at the Pavilion are a variety of other offerings such as hamburgers, chips, ice-cream, and sodas. All proceeds go to support Vision Screening.
BEER GARDEN SPONSORED BY MORE
New this year! Open from 1pm to 8:30p, Smoketown Brewery will be bringing their very best brews for you to try out. No one under the age of 21 may enter the designated area and all beer sold must be drunk in the beer garden. The beer garden will be located in the Baseball field near the tennis courts.
1pm - 7pm Come to the Bingo tent and spend an hour under the shade. This is "quarter" bingo where you pay a quarter a card (or 50 cents for 3 cards) and try your luck to win half the "pot". All proceeds go to support Heritage Day 2019.
Bicycle Rides provided by Frederick Bicycle Coalition, Frederick County Sheriffs and National Interscholastic Cycling Association (Maryland Interscholastic Cycling League)
Bicycle events: 10AM to 2PM
All cycling events are free.
All cycling events require helmets.
All cycling events are "Wheels Up" at their given time.
All cycling events meet in Community Park at the tennis courts except the mountain biking.
1:30PM "Tour de Pasture" A fun five miler for all the cyclist here for the day to come together for this police escorted ride around Emmitsburg and our local farms. A perfect way to ease into a second go at the bar-b-q and to scout your best spot for the parade on Main Street.
1:30PM "Tour de Park" Short family friendly ride explores Community Park.
Bicycle Rodeo - Frederick Bicycle Coaltion
12pm - 4pm Drop in activities. Bicycle Safety Rodeo – located at the basketball court at Community Park – This Bike Rodeo is a fun course where kids learn how to correctly signal, be car aware, and ride around obstacles. Each participant will need a signed waiver form and please bring a bike (for without, some bikes will be available), a helmet, and a water bottle if possible. Sponsored by MORE. CCC KIDS GAMES & RIDES
12pm - 3pm FREE - Kids games, rides and face painting by the Tennis courts under the trees. Bring the kids to enjoy the huge Kiddie Pillar inflatable, Moon bounce, barrel train ride, and face painting. The barrel ride takes the kids through community park. CHALK ART CONTEST
12pm - 4pm Open to the Public Ages 1- 17. Come create a work of art at the tennis courts! Win a ribbon. Chalk is provided and a work space to create!
1pm Come see South Paw Dog Club, a local cub out of Gettysburg, demonstrate both basic and advanced obedience training with a variety of dog breeds. They will run through a variety of training drills and end with an demonstration through a small agility course!
FIREWORKS at Community Park
9:45pm (approx) As soon as its dark you will be treated to the best fireworks in the north county area if not in all of Frederick County! Bring your blankets and chairs and enjoy the beautiful and spectacular fireworks. Sponsored by EPBA and the Lions, and supported through the donations of individuals, public and civic organizations and businesses in our community and surrounding area!
FRISBEE GOLF TOURNAMENT
DROP IN TOURNAMENT ALL DAY. SIGN UP AT THE FRISBEE REGISTRATION TENT AND GRAB YOUR FRISBEE! THIS BRAND NEW (STILL IN DEVELOPMENT) 18 HOLE FRISBEE GOLF COURSE IS HAVING ITS GRAND OPENING AT HERITAGE DAY! THE COURSE ACCESS IS BY THE WALKING PATH AT COMMUNITY PARK.
Frederick Fire and Rescue Museum
9am - Visit the Frederick County Fire & Rescue Museum and see the tradition and history of the Frederick County, Maryland Fire/Rescue service as well as the National Firefighter archives and exhibits of fire equipment and vehicles. www.frederickmdfiremuseum.org

HISTORY TOURS hay ride
Join Historian Jim Rada as he takes you on a journey through Emmitsburg's history on a hayride down Lincoln Avenue! Sign up at his vendor booth. Seating is limited so sign up early! History tour begins at 6pm and will go until 8pm.
Heritage Day Breakfast
6am - 10am Start the day off at the Annual Vigilant Hose Auxiliary Breakfast (Adults $8 / Kids (age 6 – 10) $4) at Main Street Fire Hall This annual breakfast is an Emmitsburg tradition, come enjoy the all-you-can-eat delicious bacon, sausage, pancakes, eggs, toast, coffee, milk and orange juice while giving back to the community’s fire department. Children under 6 are free.
Heritage Day Parade!
5pm - The parade we wait for every year! Parade Route is from Mountainview Road down West Main street, turns right at the square and continues down South Seton where it turns down Cedar lane into the park . Larger vehicles will turn around in Southgate community.
12 noon registration - Tournament begins at 1pm - This annual competition is open to all. No experience is required.
MUSIC at the Bandstand
Join STICKTIME at the Bandstand from 6:30pm to 9:30pm for Classic Rock and Dance Music!
Multi-User Trail Off road Bike Rides!
10am - Group Mountain Bike Rides (3 led rides) Multi-User Trails - Meet at the Rainbow Lake picnic area on Hampton Valley Road. This trail was professionally designed and built by the Trail Conservancy in conjunction with the Single Track Futures Foundation, Mid Atlantic Off-Road Enthusiasts (MORE), the International Mountain Biking Association (IMBA) and the Recreational Trail Program managed through the Maryland’s State Highway Administration and supported by over 1,000 hours of volunteer efforts. These trails have recently been featured in Dirt Rag Magazine, and have received numerous internet reviews, including www.mtbproject.com. Known as a “stacked loop system,” these trails provide a range of offerings for new riders as well as East Coast Tough Guys and Gal. Groups are categorized by experience, Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced. The ride pace and difficulty is determined by each group’s designation. REQUIRED: Helmet, Water, Mountain Bike in safe working condition (as determined by leader), signed waiver (available on site). Wheels roll at 9:15a!
