Art Contest Exhibit

12pm - 4pm Come see the art contest submissions by 1st through 8th Graders on the Theme "How Does Your Community Look Through Your Eyes.".  Open to the Public. 

BBQ Chicken Dinner and snacks at the Pavilion-Lions Club

12am - Close The Lions Club brings you their famous BBQ Chicken dinners at $10.00.  Includes beverage and sides. Also at the Pavilion are a variety of other offerings such as hamburgers, chips, ice-cream, and sodas. All proceeds go to support Vision Screening.


New this year! Open from 1pm to 8:30p, Smoketown  Brewery will be bringing their very best brews for you to try out.  No one under the age of 21 may enter the designated area and all beer sold must be drunk in the beer garden.  The beer garden will be located in the Baseball field near the tennis courts. 

Bicycle Rides provided by Frederick Bicycle Coalition, Frederick County Sheriffs and National Interscholastic Cycling Association (Maryland Interscholastic Cycling League)

Bicycle events: 10AM to 2PM

All cycling events are free. 

All cycling events require helmets.

All cycling events are "Wheels Up" at their given time.

All cycling events meet in Community Park at the tennis courts except the mountain biking.

Bike Events Schedule:

  • 8AM "50 Miler Sightseer" This self-paced ride with Darius Mark (leader) will meander through the extraordinary hills and landmarks surrounding Emmitsburg. Selected by our local cyclists from amongst our favorite routes, with ride marshals to help you along the way. A GPS route will be posted pre-ride and cue sheets will be available.

  • 10AM "Mountain Biking at Rainbow Lake" All levels of mountain bikers are welcome to experience the Emmitsburg Multi-User Trails, "just up the hill from town." This stacked loop trail system has terrain that varies from beginner to advanced. Our local shredders will be on hand to show you their most cherished lines. Meets at Rainbow Lake on Hampton Valley Road.

  • 1PM - 4PM  Drop in activity "Bike Safety Rodeo" Kids have an opportunity to learn cycling skills taught by experienced cycling educators. No bike (lenders will be provided) needed and helmets will be available as well.

  • 1:30PM "Tour de Pasture" A fun five miler for all the cyclist here for the day to come together for this police escorted ride around Emmitsburg and our local farms. A perfect way to ease into a second go at the bar-b-q and to scout your best spot for the parade on Main Street.

  • 1:30PM "Tour de Park" Short family friendly ride explores Community Park.

Bicycle Rodeo - Frederick Bicycle Coaltion

12pm - 4pm Drop in activities.  Bicycle Safety Rodeo – located at the basketball court at Community Park – This Bike Rodeo is a fun course where kids learn how to correctly signal, be car aware, and ride around obstacles. Each participant will need a signed waiver form and please bring a bike (for without, some bikes will be available), a helmet, and a water bottle if possible.  Sponsored by MORE.   Registration is available on site.  http://www.more-mtb.org/


1pm - 7pm Come to the Bingo tent and spend an hour under the shade.  This is "quarter" bingo where you pay a quarter a card (or 50 cents for 3 cards) and try your luck to win half the "pot".  All proceeds go to support Heritage Day 2019.

Car, Truck & Open Show - Registration starts at 10:30am

Noon - 4:00pm Come view a variety of new and classic vehicles and vote for your favorites!  Located on School Lane at the elementary school parking lot (black top) close to the event area.  Peoples choice judging will be from noon to 3:30pm.  There is a $15 entry fee for all vehicles.  The first 50 entries will receive a free dash plaque!  Championship trophies will be awarded through 4th place winner in each division at 4pm on site.  For those interested in registering contact Melissa Wetzel at 301-447-3797 or email eburgheritagedays@gmail.com.

12pm - 3pm  FREE - Kids games, rides and face painting by the Tennis courts under the trees.  Bring the kids to enjoy the huge Kiddie Pillar inflatable, Moon bounce, barrel train ride, and face painting.  The barrel ride takes the kids through community park.  Sponsored by Christ's Community Church  www.cccemmitsburg.org

Emergency Services Demonstration

2pm - 4pm Our emergency services will demonstrate a car rescue and extraction and other rescue scenarios. They may even spray their hoses for you to jump in !!!

Field Games

12 pm -  You will never have as much fun anywhere than at our old fashioned field games!  Join in and catch the greased pig, toss eggs, do the 3 legged race, or hop your way across the finishline in your potato sack!  Then see who can eat their slice of watermelon fastest without using their hands-- or maybe you would enjoy the pie eating contest even more!  Laughter and mayhem abound!
